Jamie Saucier is a native of New Hampshire; having grown up in Derry and currently residing in East Kingston with his wife, sons and daughter. By day he is the Senior Project Manager/Estimator for NESC, Inc. in Salisbury, MA.
Before hitting college, Jamie found himself at Pinkerton Academy in Derry. A section leader his Sophomore year, Jamie participated in band and chorus in every opportunity provided him. Taking every performing opportunity in chorus, band and theatre, Jamie by his senior year fell one point short of Jazz All-State. He used that as motivation to become the top tenor in Classical All-State. On the pre-med track – he took every AP course available and headed to UNH.
Jamie started at UNH a few weeks early while in the marching band. He started singing in every group available (jazz, chamber and choir). Unfortunately, music participation meant the times to study were limited. The middle of Freshman year he joined an a cappella group, Alabaster Blue, a co-ed a cappella group. By Sophomore year he was musically directing Alabaster Blue, and at the end of Junior year he founded Not Too Sharp, an all male barbershop and a cappella group. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Pre-teaching.
After graduation Mr. Saucier went to work in the public schools in the New England and New York areas. While in New York he attended Ithaca College and received his Master of Music degree in Music with a specialty in Music Education.
After having taught for four years he went for a change of careers and started his position at UNH Manchester as the Student Activities/Involvement Coordinator. While in this position he has raised tens of thousands of dollars for local charities and founded many musical student clubs (Milling Around, a cappella group; Brick and Mortar, theatre group among others).
He is the founder and director of Voices of the (603), an a cappella festival for middle and high schools in the state of NH. He invited the Granite Statesmen to perform in the first year (2010) and every year after that they could, they were there. The purpose of Voices of the (603) was to show students that their singing didn’t have to stop when they graduated and didn’t have to be a music major to enjoy music participation.
Jamie has completed his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Educational Leadership specializing in Arts, Leadership and Learning from Plymouth State University. He has also been the co-president of the statewide, NH Citizens for the Arts (NH4Arts), he has been a school board member/chair, has served on many local boards. He has since 2010 also been the choral director for the Merrimack Concert Association and looks for many more fruitful years with the Granite Statesmen.
