On Valentines Day several of the Granite Statesmen hit the road to deliver Singing Valentines. One of our intrepid quartets was accompanied by reporter Garrett Brnger from WBIN.

Free Singing Lessons For Men!

Free Singing Lessons for Men Who Want to Sing Better Begins May 1st

The Granite Statesmen Chorus is offering four free singing lessons absolutely free for men of all ages who want to sing better. This program, sponsored by the Nashua NH chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, has received widespread support and continuing in its 15th season. The instruction will include four-part harmony singing, proper vocal production, breathing technique and basic performance skills.

The singing lessons will last one hour each, beginning at 7 PM at the Nashua Senior Center, 70 Temple St, Nashua NH. Each will be directly followed by a one hour large ensemble workshop where students can practice what they have learned. That is eight free hours of instruction. The program begins May 1st and will continue on consecutive Wednesday evenings. Past singing experience is helpful, but is not necessary to enjoy this program. Singers are encouraged to attend the entire series of classes, although each can be enjoyed separately. Graduates of this program will also be offered additional opportunities to improve their skills.

The Granite Statesmen Chorus is an all-male performing chorus comprised of singers of all ages from more
than 30 area cities and towns. It is celebrating its 58th year in Southern NH. These men are all members of the Barbershop Harmony Society and many also perform in barbershop quartets. The chorus regularly seeks men who share their desire to have fun while learning to sing better. These free singing lessons are a great way to find out if four-part harmony singing is for you. There is absolutely no cost or obligation.

The parent group, The Barbershop Harmony Society, also known as the Society for the Preservation and
Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, is a non-profit organization committed to music education and community service. It is the largest fraternal singing society in the world with nearly 25,000 singers located in more than 750 cities across the United States and Canada. It is celebrating its 75 th anniversary year this month.
